Munising

Munising is a city on the southern shore of Lake Superior on the Upper Peninsula of the U.S. Change things up with these side-trips from Munising: Manistique (Kitch-Iti-Kipi (The Big Spring) & Palms Book State Park) and Lakenenland Sculpture Park (in Marquette). Detroit to Munising is an approximately 5-hour combination of flight and taxi. You can also drive; or do a combination of train, bus, and car. Prepare for little chillier weather when traveling from Detroit in July: high temperatures in Munising hover around 74°F and lows are around 56°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 27th (Mon) early enough to go by car to Paradise.

Paradise

Paradise is an unincorporated community in Whitefish Township, Chippewa County in the U.S. Kick off your visit on the 27th (Mon): explore the activities along Tahquamenon Falls and then admire the sheer force of Tahquamenon Falls State Park. On the 28th (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: get engrossed in the history at Whitefish Point Light, then see the interesting displays at Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum, and then see the sky in a new way at Whitefish Point Bird Observatory.

Getting from Munising to Paradise by car takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of shuttle and car. In July in Paradise, expect temperatures between 74°F during the day and 53°F at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 29th (Wed) so you can travel to Mackinac Island.

Traverse City might be well known for its huge cherry industry, but its position along Grand Traverse Bay in Lake Michigan endows it with fine scenery and a wealth of outdoor attractions.
Explore Traverse City's surroundings by going to Empire (Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive, &more) and Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail (in Glen Arbor). The adventure continues: take a tour by water with Boat Tours & Water Sports, play a few rounds at Pirate's Cove Adventure Golf, stop by American Spoon, and take a stroll through Front Street.

Do a combination of ferry and bus from Mackinac Island to Traverse City in 5 hours. When traveling from Mackinac Island in July, plan for a bit warmer days in Traverse City, with highs around 80°F, while nights are about the same with lows around 59°F. You'll have a few hours on the 2nd (Sun) to wrap things up before traveling home.
