Start off your visit on the 12th (Sat): take in the spiritual surroundings of Trinity Church, then take a stroll through Back Bay, then admire the majestic nature at National Monument to the Forefathers, and finally take an in-depth tour of Jenney Museum. Maine's biggest and perhaps most vibrant city, Portland was established as a fishing village in 1633 and grew to become New England's largest port.
On the 16th (Wed), visit a coastal fixture at Portland Breakwater Lighthouse. On your second day here, examine the collection at Maine Jewish Museum, stroll the grounds of Eastern Cemetery, then steep yourself in history at Fort Gorges, and finally enjoy the sea views from Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse.

You can do a combination of ferry and car from Edgartown to Portland in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and bus; or do a combination of ferry and bus.
