Albuquerque remains one of the state's secret jewels, as its tourist attractions are often overshadowed by the more popular holiday destination of Santa Fe.
Start off your visit on the 7th (Sun): examine the collection at Unser Racing Museum, hike along La Luz Trail, and then browse for treasures at Tinkertown Museum. On the 8th (Mon), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: examine the collection at Turquoise Museum, then explore the ancient world of Coronado Historic Site, and then do a tasting at Casa Rondena Winery.

Drive from Carlsbad to Albuquerque in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of car and flight. When traveling from Carlsbad in June, plan for a bit cooler days and about the same nights in Albuquerque: temperatures range from 93°F by day to 64°F at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 8th (Mon) early enough to go by car to Taos.

You can drive from Albuquerque to Taos in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or do a combination of train and bus. In June, Taos is slightly colder than Albuquerque - with highs of 83°F and lows of 46°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 10th (Wed) early enough to go by car to Santa Fe.
