The Big Easy

Known for its Creole cuisine, rich musical tradition, and nearby swamps and plantations, New Orleans is one of the nation's oldest cities.
Museum-lovers will appreciate Laura: Louisiana's Creole Heritage Site and The National WWII Museum. Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Royal Street and Louisiana Music Factory. Change things up with these side-trips from New Orleans: Houmas House Plantation and Gardens (in Darrow), Vacherie (Oak Alley Plantation & St. Joseph Plantation) and Nottoway Plantation (in White Castle). And it doesn't end there: take a stroll through Garden District, examine the collection at New Orleans Museum of Art, make a trip to Jackson Square, and walk around New Orleans City Park.
