A town that survives on the sea, Newport's population of just over 10,000 supports a healthy commercial fishing industry.
Visit Heceta Head Lighthouse and Yaquina Head Lighthouse for their historical value. Visit Devils Punchbowl State Natural Area and Heceta Beach for some beach relaxation. Venture out of the city with trips to McMinnville (Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum & Remy Wines), Brooks Wine (in Amity) and Lincoln City (Freed Gallery & Lincoln City Glass Center).
