The center of Cherokee culture in the eastern part of the country, the town named after this Native American tribe serves as a base camp for hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains.
Start off your visit on the 4th (Thu): relax and float downstream with a rafting and tubing tour, then stop by Unique Gift Outlet, then admire the sheer force of Mingo Falls, and finally try your luck at Casino at Harrah’s Cherokee. On the 5th (Fri), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: examine the collection at Museum of the Cherokee Indian, then take a pleasant ride with a tour on horseback, and then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Clingmans Dome.

Blowing Rock

Blowing Rock is a town in Watauga and Caldwell counties in the U.S. On the 6th (Sat), whizz through the canopy at some of the top local zipline courses and adventure parks, admire all the interesting features of Moses H. Cone Memorial Park, and then admire the majestic nature at Julian Price Memorial Park. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 7th (Sun): go deep underground at Doc's Rocks Gem Mine and then get in on the family fun at Tweetsie Railroad.

Traveling by car from Cherokee to Blowing Rock takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi and bus. June in Blowing Rock sees daily highs of 77°F and lows of 57°F at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 7th (Sun) early enough to go by car to Lake Lure.
