Eureka is the principal city and county seat of Humboldt County in the Redwood Empire region of California. Ferndale Historic Cemetery and Trinidad Memorial and Memorial Lighthouse will appeal to history buffs. Step out of the city life by going to Redwood National Park and Hikshari Trail. Change things up with these side-trips from Eureka: Tall Trees Grove (in Redwood National Park), Fern Cottage (in Ferndale) and Humboldt Redwoods State Park (in Weott). There's still lots to do: explore and take pictures at Redwood Highway and do a tasting at Clendenen's Cider Works.

Mendocino is an unincorporated community in Mendocino County, California, United States. Escape the urban bustle at Mendocino Coast and Point Cabrillo Light Station. Your inner history buff will appreciate Point Arena Lighthouse & Museum and Ford House Museum. Explore Mendocino's surroundings by going to Pennyroyal Farm (in Boonville), The City of Ten Thousand Buddhas (in Ukiah) and Sea Ranch Chapel (in The Sea Ranch). There's still lots to do: stroll through Glass Beach, take in the views from Albion River Bridge, go for a walk through Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens, and enjoy the sand and surf at Noyo Beach.

Drive from Eureka to Mendocino in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and car; or do a combination of bus and taxi. When traveling from Eureka in March, plan for somewhat warmer days in Mendocino, with highs around 67°F, while nights are about the same with lows around 42°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 11th (Wed) to allow time to drive to Crescent City.

Crescent City is the county seat and only incorporated city in Del Norte County, California. On the 12th (Thu), stroll through Stout Grove, immerse yourself in nature at Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, then enjoy the sand and surf at Enderts Beach, and finally kick back and relax at Wilson Creek Beach. Keep things going the next day: enjoy the sea views from Battery Point Lighthouse, take a peaceful walk through Trees of Mystery, and then admire all the interesting features of Newton B. Drury Scenic Pkwy.
