Known primarily for its steel-related heritage and 446 bridges, Pittsburgh sits at the confluence of the Monongahela and Allegheny Rivers, which meet to form the Ohio River.
On the 3rd (Fri), examine the collection at The Nationality Rooms and then get engrossed in the history at Cathedral of Learning. Here are some ideas for day two: get engrossed in the history at Senator John Heinz History Center, then get curious at Carnegie Science Center, then examine the collection at Bicycle Heaven, and finally admire the majestic nature at Point State Park.

Step out of Gettysburg with an excursion to United States Army Heritage and Education Center in Carlisle--about 44 minutes away. And it doesn't end there: take in the history at Lincoln Statue at Wills House, appreciate the extensive heritage of Shriver House Museum, take in the dramatic natural features at Devils Den, and take in the views from Sachs Covered Bridge.
