Phoenix is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. Kick off your visit on the 1st (Sat): see the interesting displays at Desert Botanical Garden. Keep things going the next day: take in nature's colorful creations at Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix, delve into the distant past at Casa Grande Ruins National Monument, and then immerse yourself in nature at Boyce Thompson Arboretum.

A seaside playground in the Caribbean, Rincon was a small agricultural and fishing town until it hosted the 1968 World Surfing Championship.
