For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
Kick off your visit on the 6th (Mon): contemplate the waterfront views at Sun Bay Beach, then delve into the distant past at El Hombre de Puerto Ferro, and then get great views at Puerto Ferro Lighthouse. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 7th (Tue): enjoy the sand and surf at Caracas Beach, enjoy the sand and surf at La Plata Beach, and then add some adventure to your tour with a kayaking and canoeing tour.

Omaha, USA to Isla de Vieques is an approximately 12-hour flight. The time zone difference moving from Central Standard Time to Atlantic Standard Time is 2 hours. Traveling from Omaha in July, Isla de Vieques is a bit warmer at night with lows of 79°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 7th (Tue) early enough to travel to Culebra.

Little Island

With much of Culebra a nature refuge, the tropical island has been protected from overdevelopment, chain hotels, and the cruise set.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Culebrita Island and Brava Beach. Family-friendly places like Flamenco Beach and Playa Punta Soldado Beach will thrill your kids. There's much more to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Carlos Rosario Beach, enjoy the sea views from Culebrita Lighthouse, get lost in a book at Culebra Public Library, and stroll through Melones Beach.

Do a combination of car and flight from Isla de Vieques to Culebra in 4 hours. Alternatively, you can ride a ferry. Expect a daytime high around 90°F in July, and nighttime lows around 80°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 10th (Fri) so you can travel to Arecibo.

Arecibo is a municipality on the northern coast of Puerto Rico (U.S.), on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, located north of Utuado and Ciales; east of Hatillo; and west of Barceloneta and Florida. On the 11th (Sat), Head underground at Cueva del Indio and then enjoy the sand and surf at Playa Vega Baja. On your second day here, Head underground at Aventura Cueva Ventana, then head outdoors with El Poza del Obispo, and then enjoy the sand and surf at La Poza Del Obizpo.

Traveling by flight from Culebra to Arecibo takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of ferry and car; or do a combination of ferry, taxi, bus, and car. In July, daily temperatures in Arecibo can reach 86°F, while at night they dip to 76°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 12th (Sun) to allow enough time to drive to San Juan.

Founded by the Spanish in 1521, San Juan is the oldest city under U.S.
Start off your visit on the 13th (Mon): admire the striking features of The Capitol of Puerto Rico, get some thrills out on the water with a waterskiing or jet-skiing adventure, then kick back and relax at Isla Verde Beach, and finally whizz through the canopy at some of the top local zipline courses and adventure parks.

Drive from Arecibo to San Juan in an hour. In July in San Juan, expect temperatures between 89°F during the day and 78°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 14th (Tue) to allow time for travel back home.
