Isla de Vieques

For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Caracas Beach and Stand-Up Paddleboarding. You'll explore and learn at Serenity Point Yoga & Visionary Arts Space and Siddhia Hutchinson Fine Art Gallery. There's still lots to do: tour the pleasant surroundings at Sun Bay Beach, add some adventure to your tour with a kayaking and canoeing tour, take some stellar pictures from Puerto Ferro Lighthouse, and kick back and relax at La Chiva.
