Culebra

Little Island

With much of Culebra a nature refuge, the tropical island has been protected from overdevelopment, chain hotels, and the cruise set.
Visit Flamenco Beach and Zoni Beach for some beach relaxation. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Tamarindo Beach and Melones Beach. There's much more to do: tour the pleasant surroundings at Playa Carlos Rosario, head off the coast to Culebrita, and enjoy the sand and surf at Playa Punta Soldado Beach.

Arecibo

Arecibo is a municipality on the northern coast of Puerto Rico (U.S.), on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, located north of Utuado and Ciales; east of Hatillo; and west of Barceloneta and Florida. On the 26th (Sat), Head underground at Aventura Cueva Ventana and then Head underground at Cueva del Indio.

You can fly from Culebra to Arecibo in 2.5 hours. Other options are to do a combination of ferry and car; or do a combination of ferry, taxi, bus, and car. Prepare for slightly colder weather when traveling from Culebra in December: high temperatures in Arecibo hover around 80°F and lows are around 70°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 26th (Sat) to allow enough time to drive to El Yunque National Forest.

Isla de Vieques

For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
On the 28th (Mon), take a leisurely stroll along Mosquito Pier, then kick back and relax at Navio Beach, and then tour the pleasant surroundings at Media Luna Beach. On the next day, kick back and relax at Playa Pata Prieta, then stroll through Playa La Chiva, and then take in the waterfront at Malecon.

Do a combination of car and ferry from El Yunque National Forest to Isla de Vieques in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and taxi. In December in Isla de Vieques, expect temperatures between 84°F during the day and 75°F at night. On the 30th (Wed), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can fly back home.
