Nicknamed the "Emerald City" because of its abundant evergreen trees, Seattle is the cultural and business center of the Pacific Northwest, as well as a popular holiday destination.
Get a sense of the local culture at Chihuly Garden and Glass and Pike Place Market. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Snoqualmie Falls and Washington Park Arboretum. Get out of town with these interesting Seattle side-trips: Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge (in Olympia) and Bloedel Reserve (in Bainbridge Island). The adventure continues: explore the different monuments and memorials at Bruce Lee Grave Site and enjoy breathtaking views from Space Needle.

A big city with a small-town feel, Portland is home to the country's biggest rose test garden, perched on a hill overlooking downtown.
Start off your visit on the 11th (Thu): steep yourself in history at Columbia River Highway, then admire the sheer force of Latourell Falls, then stroll around Laurelhurst Park, and finally hike along Forest Park. Keep things going the next day: admire the natural beauty at Hoyt Arboretum, then take in nature's colorful creations at International Rose Test Garden, then take a stroll through Alberta Street, and finally take in the awesome beauty at Mount Tabor Park.

Take a train from Olympic National Park to Portland in 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or take a bus.
