Once saddled with the reputation of being one of the country's dirtiest cities, Chattanooga now boasts a pedestrian-friendly downtown with a network of leafy waterfront trails and free electric shuttles.
Kick off your visit on the 31st (Fri): snap pictures at Walnut Street Bridge, admire nature's wide array of creatures at Tennessee Aquarium, and then look for gifts at Rocket Fizz. On your second day here, take in panoramic vistas at Ruby Falls, then take in the awesome beauty at Lookout Mountain, and then get great views at Rock City.

Columbus to Chattanooga is an approximately 3.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of shuttle and flight; or drive. In May, plan for daily highs up to 81°F, and evening lows to 59°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 1st (Sat) early enough to travel to Washington DC.
