Generally considered to be the oldest town established by European Americans in the Black Hills, Custer began as a mining town.
Kick off your visit on the 22nd (Fri): get a new perspective on nature at The Museum @ Black Hills Institute and then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Black Hills. On the next day, admire the majestic nature at Custer State Park, hike along Cathedral Spires Hiking Trail, and then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Harney Peak.
