Many visitors describe their Charleston holiday as a warm embrace by an old, dear friend--who lived about 200 years ago.
On the 21st (Sun), steep yourself in history at Fort Sumter National Monument, get the lay of the land with Walking tours, and then see majestic marine mammals with a dolphin and whale watching tour. Here are some ideas for day two: admire all the interesting features of Magnolia Plantation & Gardens, then settle in for a delightful tour with a horse-drawn carriage tour, and then admire the natural beauty at Washington Square.

Stuart to Charleston is an approximately 6.5-hour combination of taxi, bus, and flight. You can also fly; or drive. In July in Charleston, expect temperatures between 89°F during the day and 75°F at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 23rd (Tue) so you can go by car to Asheville.

Asheville nestles between two major mountain ranges in the scenic western section of North Carolina.
Bring the kids along to Zipline and DuPont State Recreational Forest. Venture out of the city with trips to Symmes Chapel (in Cleveland) and Falls Park on the Reedy (in Greenville). And it doesn't end there: let your taste buds guide you at a local gastronomic tour, explore the wealth of natural beauty at The North Carolina Arboretum, and indulge your thirst for a good beer at Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. You can drive from Charleston to Asheville in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or do a combination of flight and car. Traveling from Charleston in July, things will get little chillier in Asheville: highs are around 84°F and lows about 65°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 25th (Thu) so you can drive to Knoxville.

Kick off your visit on the 26th (Fri): whizz through the canopy at some of the top local zipline courses and adventure parks, get in on the family fun at 7D Dark Ride Adventure, and then cool off at Dollywood. On your second day here, find something for the whole family at The Island in Pigeon Forge.

You can drive from Asheville to Knoxville in 2.5 hours. Another option is to take a bus. In July, plan for daily highs up to 87°F, and evening lows to 69°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 27th (Sat) early enough to travel to Atlanta.
