On the 6th (Mon), learn about winemaking at Folktale Winery & Vineyard. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Scenic Route Highway 49 and Mariposa Museum and History Center. Drive from Big Sur to Mariposa in 3.5 hours. Traveling from Big Sur in April, expect nights in Mariposa to be about the same, around 48°F, while days are a bit warmer, around 76°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 12th (Sun) early enough to travel to Napa.

Located just 80 km (50 mi) north of San Francisco, Napa sits at the southern end of the scenic Napa Valley, one of the world's major wine regions.
Start off your visit on the 13th (Mon): learn about winemaking at Hendry Ranch Wines, then learn about winemaking at VGS Chateau Potelle, then do a tasting at Modus Operandi Cellars, and finally learn about winemaking at Moone Tsai Winery.
