Sault Ste. Marie — 1 night

Sault Ste. Kick off your visit on the 19th (Tue): deepen your understanding at Lake Superior State University and then don't miss a visit to Soo Locks.

Detroit to Sault Ste. Marie is an approximately 3-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. In July, Sault Ste. Marie is a bit cooler than Detroit - with highs of 76°F and lows of 55°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 20th (Wed) early enough to travel to Mackinac Island.

Mackinac Island — 2 nights

Mackinac Island is a city in Mackinac County in the U.S. state of Michigan. Start off your visit on the 20th (Wed): steep yourself in history at Biddle House, take in the architecture and atmosphere at St Anne's Catholic Church, and then admire the majestic nature at Mackinac Island State Park. On the next day, stop by Island House Bike Shop, look for all kinds of wild species at The Original Mackinac Island Butterfly House & Insect World, then learn about all things military at Fort Mackinac, and finally take in the dramatic natural features at Arch Rock.

Paradise — 1 night

Paradise is an unincorporated community in Whitefish Township, Chippewa County in the U.S. state of Michigan.Paradise is on the northeastern portion of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, on the western side of Whitefish Bay, Lake Superior, about 60mi by road from Sault Ste. On the 22nd (Fri), get engrossed in the history at Whitefish Point Light, examine the collection at Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum, and then immerse yourself in nature at Tahquamenon Falls State Park.

Do a combination of ferry and car from Mackinac Island to Paradise in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of ferry, bus, and taxi. Traveling from Mackinac Island in July, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be little chillier in Paradise, with lows of 53°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 23rd (Sat) to allow enough time to drive to Munising.

Munising — 3 nights

Munising is a city on the southern shore of Lake Superior on the Upper Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan. Change things up with a short trip to Palms Book State Park in Manistique (about 1h 5 min away). Spend the 23rd (Sat) exploring nature at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. There's still lots to do: explore the striking landscape at Miners Castle Rock and take in the dramatic scenery at Munising Falls.
