Stowe bustles in winter when skiers and snowboarders flock here to challenge themselves on the long, steep trails careening down Vermont's tallest peak, Mt.
Step off the beaten path and head to Boyden Valley Winery & Spirits and The Alchemist. Get out of town with these interesting Stowe side-trips: Hope Cemetery (in Barre) and Shelburne Vineyard (in Shelburne). There's still lots to do: sample some tasty brews at a beer tour and tasting, delve into the mystery of Gold Brook Covered Bridge (Emily's Covered Bridge), sample the fine beverages at Green Mountain Distillers, and indulge your thirst for a good beer at Rock Art Brewery.

Huntington to Stowe is an approximately 14.5-hour car ride. You can also fly. Traveling from Huntington in October, expect Stowe to be little chillier, temps between 60°F and 39°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 10th (Thu) to allow enough time to drive to Saint Johnsbury.
