A tiny town with big tourist appeal, Pigeon Forge bills itself as the "Center of Fun in the Smokies." Just a short drive from the national park protecting the diverse plant and animal life of the Great Smoky Mountains, the town features numerous places to visit, such as bars, restaurants, cafes, theaters, and shops.
Get a sense of the local culture at Old Forge Distillery and Mill Bridge Winery. Visiting Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail and Roaring Fork will get you outdoors. Take a break from Pigeon Forge with a short trip to Newfound Gap Road in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, about 32 minutes away. There's still lots to do: explore the striking landscape at Chimney Tops Trail, stop by Sandman's Workshop, take in the dramatic scenery at Laurel Falls, and sample the fine beverages at Ole Smoky Whiskey Barrelhouse.

Getting from Virginia Beach to Pigeon Forge by flight takes about 5.5 hours. Other options: drive; or do a combination of bus and car. In June, daytime highs in Pigeon Forge are 86°F, while nighttime lows are 66°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 30th (Tue) early enough to catch the flight back home.
