Founded in 1632 as a fortified settlement on the high ground between two rivers, Williamsburg served as a colonial capital of Virginia for over 80 years.
Start off your visit on the 7th (Mon): admire the masterpieces at Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum, pause for some serene contemplation at Bruton Parish Episcopal Church, then contemplate the long history of Governor's Palace, and finally look for gifts at The Peanut Shop of Williamsburg. Barker House and St. Paul's Episcopal Church will appeal to history buffs. Get outdoors at Virginia Beach and Sandbridge Beach.
