Founded in 1632 as a fortified settlement on the high ground between two rivers, Williamsburg served as a colonial capital of Virginia for over 80 years.
Appreciate the collections at Calvert Marine Museum and Drum Point Lighthouse and Stratford Hall. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Cape Charles Beach and Yorktown Beach. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Williamsburg: St. Luke's Historic Church & Museum (in Smithfield), Leonardtown Wharf Park (in Leonardtown) and Shirley Plantation (in Charles City). There's still lots to do: contemplate the long history of Colonial Williamsburg, examine the collection at Virginia Holocaust Museum, admire all the interesting features of Pamplin Historical Park, and pause for some serene contemplation at Bruton Parish Episcopal Church.

To find where to stay, other places to visit, maps, and more tourist information, go to the Williamsburg trip maker app .

The Route module can give you travel options from your home to Williamsburg. In July, daily temperatures in Williamsburg can reach 91°F, while at night they dip to 73°F. You will leave for Virginia Beach on the 9th (Tue).
