Denali National Park and Preserve

The 2.43 million hectares (6 million acres) of Denali National Park include low taiga forest, high-alpine tundra, and snowcapped mountains, all of which lead up to Mt.
Start off your visit on the 5th (Mon): hike along Savage Alpine Trail. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 6th (Tue): identify plant and animal life at Mc Kinley Park Rd and then identify plant and animal life at Husky Homestead.

You can take a train from Juneau to Denali National Park and Preserve in 20 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of ferry and train; or do a combination of ferry and bus. August in Denali National Park and Preserve sees daily highs of 66°F and lows of 49°F at night. On the 7th (Wed), you're off to Talkeetna.

Talkeetna

Talkeetna is a census-designated place in Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Alaska, United States. Your day by day itinerary now includes Aurora Dora as well as Denali Zipline Tours. Start off your visit on the 8th (Thu): whizz through the canopy at Denali Zipline Tours, get engrossed in the history at Talkeetna Historical Society Museum, then expand your horizons at Aurora Dora, and finally don't miss a visit to Nagley's Store. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: get a dose of the wild on a nature and wildlife tour, make a trip to Dream a Dream Premier Iditarod, then stop by Alaska Birch Syrup & Wild Harvest Products : Kahiltna Birchworks Shop, and finally don't miss a visit to Cubby's Marketplace.

Traveling by train from Denali National Park and Preserve to Talkeetna takes 5 hours. In August in Talkeetna, expect temperatures between 66°F during the day and 49°F at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 9th (Fri) so you can go by car to Anchorage.

Home to nearly half of Alaska's population, the port city of Anchorage covers a staggering area of over 4,900 sq km (1,900 sq mi) surrounded by mountains.
Start off your visit on the 10th (Sat): see the interesting displays at Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center, then look for all kinds of wild species at Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, and then take an in-depth tour of The Roundhouse at Alyeska. On your second day here, look for gifts at Grizzly's Gifts, then stroll through Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, then take a peaceful walk through Chugach National Forest, and finally view the masterpieces at Alaska Native Medical Center Craft Shop.

Drive from Talkeetna to Anchorage in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or take a train. August in Anchorage sees daily highs of 66°F and lows of 53°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 12th (Mon) to allow enough time to travel back home.
