Whittier

Whittier is a city at the head of the Passage Canal in the U.S. state of Alaska, about 58 miles southeast of Anchorage. Portage Pass Trail has been added to your itinerary. Start off your visit on the 3rd (Tue): hike along Portage Pass Trail and then sample the tasty concoctions at Girdwood Brewing Company. Keep things going the next day: trek along Byron Glacier Trail and then hike along Crow Pass National Historic Trail.

Traveling by car from Anchorage to Whittier takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Traveling from Anchorage in August, things will get a bit cooler in Whittier: highs are around 60°F and lows about 47°F. On the 5th (Thu), you'll have the morning to explore before heading off to Valdez.

Valdez, is a city in Valdez-Cordova Census Area in the U.S. state of Alaska.
