A rapidly growing city in central North Carolina, Charlotte is the state's largest urban center and a major regional hub for finance, industry, technology, and entertainment.
Get in touch with nature at Cowpens National Battlefield and Carolina Raptor Center. God's Acre and Reed Gold Mine will appeal to history buffs. Venture out of the city with trips to Kings Mountain National Military Park (in Blacksburg), Seagrove Creations Pottery Gallery (in Seagrove) and The Schiele Museum of Natural History (in Gastonia). There's lots more to do: examine the collection at Richard Childress Racing, admire the majestic nature at Morrow Mountain State Park, have fun and explore at Children's Museum of Winston-Salem, and stroll through Tanglewood Park.

Ocracoke is a census-designated place (CDP) and unincorporated town located at the southern end of Ocracoke Island, located entirely within Hyde County, North Carolina. Start off your visit on the 23rd (Tue): enjoy the sea views from Ocracoke Lighthouse, then get engrossed in the history at Ocracoke Preservation Museum, then get great views at Outer Banks National Scenic Byway, and finally kick back and relax at Ocracoke Lifeguarded Beach. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: kick back and relax at Ocracoke Beach Fires, then stop by Books to Be Red, and then kick back and relax at Ocracoke Beach.

You can do a combination of car and ferry from Charlotte to Ocracoke in 9 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train, bus, car, and ferry; or do a combination of bus, taxi, and ferry. July in Ocracoke sees daily highs of 35°C and lows of 28°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 25th (Thu) to allow time for travel back home.
