Mile-High City

Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.
On the 3rd (Sat), learn about wildlife with up-close encounters at Denver Zoo, shop like a local with Denver Botanic Gardens, then explore the world behind art at Denver Art Museum, and finally take in the architecture and atmosphere at Trinity United Methodist Church. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 4th (Sun): get a new perspective on nature at Denver Museum of Nature & Science, then steep yourself in history at Molly Brown House Museum, and then steep yourself in history at Denver Union Station.

Founded in 1859 as part of the Gold Rush in the Rockies, Breckenridge boasts a main street lined with colorful wooden storefronts housing cafes and shops, giving the effect of a thriving western town from the 19th century.
Go for a jaunt from Breckenridge to Keystone to see Keystone Ski Area about 40 minutes away. There's much more to do: make a trip to Main Street, tour the pleasant surroundings at Copper Mountain, ski along the peaceful trails at French Gulch, and take in the awesome beauty at Peak 9.

When traveling from Beaver Creek in December, plan for little chillier days in Breckenridge, with highs around 25°F, while nights are about the same with lows around 14°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 12th (Mon) so you can catch the flight back home.
