Durango

Originally a frontier mining town, Durango is known today for its scenic setting, outdoor activities, and the 1880s steam-powered railway that takes visitors through sections of the mountains where roads don't reach.
Take a break from the city and head to San Juan National Forest and Rim Trail/ Campus Loop. There's still lots to do: relax and rejuvenate at Durango Hot Springs, do a tasting at Sutcliffe Vineyards Tasting Room, look for gifts at Honeyville, and stroll through Animas Mountain Trail.
