You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Cascade Falls Park and Yankee Boy Basin. Get outdoors at Perimeter Trail and Ouray Box Canyon Waterfall. Get out of town with these interesting Ouray side-trips: Museum of the Mountain West (in Montrose) and Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park (in Black Canyon Of The Gunnison National Park). Known as a ski resort town, Aspen's history goes back to its roots as a silver-mining village tucked away in an isolated valley of the Rocky Mountains.
Start off your visit on the 1st (Mon): trek along Lost Man Trail and then hit the slopes at Aspen Snowmass. Keep things going the next day: hike along Maroon Lake Scenic Trail, pause for some photo ops at The John Denver Sanctuary, and then let the river carry you with a rafting and tubing tour.
