Grand Rapids — 10 nights

Furniture City

The second largest city in Michigan and a hub of furniture manufacturing, Grand Rapids bears the nickname "Furniture City." However, the destination's original name came from the rapids of the Grand River that once ran through the downtown area.
Kids will enjoy Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park and John Ball Zoo. Get out of town with these interesting Grand Rapids side-trips: Michigan's Adventure (in Muskegon), Stony Lake Stables (in New Era) and Saugatuck (Butler Street, Oval Beach, &more). Pack the 4th (Fri) with family-friendly diversions at Nelis' Dutch Village. There's still lots to do: see the interesting displays at Gerald R. Ford Museum, test your team's savvy at popular escape rooms, walk around Stearns Park, and enjoy the sand and surf at Silver Lake State Park Pedestrian Dune Access.

For other places to visit, where to stay, maps, and more tourist information, refer to the Grand Rapids trip itinerary builder.

In July in Grand Rapids, expect temperatures between 82°F during the day and 61°F at night.
