Surrounded by mountain ranges, forests, valleys, beaches, and deserts, the metropolitan area of Los Angeles is home to over 17 million people.
Take a break from the city and head to Santa Monica State Beach and Venice Beach and Boardwalk. The Getty Center and Los Angeles County Museum of Art will appeal to museum buffs. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Los Angeles: Anaheim (The VOID & Disneyland Park). There's still lots to do: take a leisurely stroll along Santa Monica Pier, explore the different monuments and memorials at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park, get to know the fascinating history of Hollywood Walk of Fame, and find something for the whole family at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Seattle to Los Angeles is an approximately 4.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Seattle in July, plan for somewhat warmer nights in Los Angeles, with lows around 66°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 6th (Mon) so you can drive to San Diego.

Divided into neighborhoods with distinct characters and cultural heritages, San Diego sits just north of the Mexican border and offers visitors a blend of tourist attractions, including a lively nightlife, diverse cuisine, and a thriving musical scene.
Visit La Jolla Cove and Children's Pool for some beach relaxation. USS Midway Museum and Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic Church are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Change things up with a short trip to Self Realization Fellowship Hermitage & Meditation Gardens in Encinitas (about 32 minutes away). There's much more to do: tour the pleasant surroundings at Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve, enjoy the sand and surf at Black's Beach, laugh and play at SeaWorld San Diego, and hit the best photo ops around with an inspiring photography tour.
