Hana

Hana is one of the most isolated communities in Hawaii, with a permanent population of just over 1,000 people.
Step off the beaten path and head to Red Sand Beach - Kaihalulu Beach and Pipiwai Trail. Take a break from the city and head to Honokalani Black Sand Beach and Off-Road Tours. Step out of Hana to go to Kipahulu and see Charles Lindbergh's Grave, which is approximately 34 minutes away. There's still lots to do: delve into the lush surroundings at Bamboo Forest, experience rural life at Hana Tropicals, get engrossed in the history at Hana Cultural Center, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Kahanu Garden.

San Francisco to Hana is an approximately 7-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 2 hours traveling from San Francisco to Hana. Traveling from San Francisco in September, expect Hana to be somewhat warmer, temps between 90°F and 72°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 22nd (Wed) early enough to fly to Kihei.

Stretching over 9.7 km (6 mi) of pristine south Maui coastline, Kihei is the island's driest and sunniest region, making it a perfect location for water activities and beach leisure.
Relax by the water at Ho'okipa Beach Park and Makena Beach. Escape the urban bustle at Nakalele Blowhole and Honolua Bay. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Kihei: Parasailing & Paragliding (in Ka'anapali), Kapalua Beach (in Kapalua) and Lahaina (Baldwin Home Museum, Old Lahaina Courthouse, &more). Getting from Hana to Kihei by flight takes about 2 hours. Other options: drive. In September, plan for daily highs up to 90°F, and evening lows to 72°F. On the 30th (Thu), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can fly back home.
