Kahului is a census-designated place (CDP) in Maui County, on the island of Maui, in the U.S. Hawaii Surf Lessons 101 has been added to your itinerary. Get outdoors at Haleakala Crater and Scuba & Snorkeling. Visit Ka'anapali Beach and Ho'okipa Beach Park for some beach relaxation. Get out of town with these interesting Kahului side-trips: Wailea Beach (in Wailea), Hana (Wai'anapanapa State Park, Hanawi Falls, &more) and Lahaina (Lahaina Banyan Court, Surf Ripper Shave Ice Co, &more). Hana is one of the most isolated communities in Hawaii, with a permanent population of just over 1,000 people.
Honokalani Black Sand Beach has been added to your itinerary. Start off your visit on the 30th (Thu): look for all kinds of wild species at Pools at Ohe'o, then get a taste of the local shopping with Laura Mango Art Gallery, then get impressive views of Haleakala Crater, and finally enjoy the sand and surf at Honokalani Black Sand Beach. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 31st (Fri): admire the sheer force of Wailua Falls, enjoy the sand and surf at Wai'anapanapa State Park, and then stroll through Red Sand Beach - Kaihalulu Beach.

Traveling by flight from Kahului to Hana takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and taxi. In January, plan for daily highs up to 81°F, and evening lows to 63°F. On the 1st (Sat), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel back home.
