The largest city on the Mississippi River, Memphis bills itself as both the "Birthplace of Rock" and "Home of the Blues." With such a rich musical heritage, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Elvis Presley chose to live in Memphis during his later years.
Explore hidden gems such as Stax Museum of American Soul Music and Elmwood Cemetery. National Civil Rights Museum - Lorraine Motel and Slave Haven / Burkle Estate Museum will appeal to history buffs. Get some cultural insight at Cheekwood and Downtown Franklin. Visiting Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park and Radnor Lake State Park will get you outdoors. Get out of town with these interesting Nashville side-trips: Arrington Vineyards (in Arrington) and Franklin (Carter House, Carnton, &more).
