Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Cathedral of St. Helena and Old Montana Prison Complex. Venture out of the city with trips to Garnet Ghost Town (in Missoula), Butte (World Museum of Mining & Headframe Spirits) and Grant-Kohrs Ranch (in Deer Lodge). The glaciers from which Glacier National Park takes its name mostly dissipated eons ago, but they left behind a scoured landscape of high and steep mountain peaks, sparkling lakes, lush alpine meadows, and thick forests.
Step off the beaten path and head to Home Ranch Bottoms and Garden Wall. Step out of the city life by going to Grinnell Glacier and Iceberg Lake Trail. There's still lots to do: cruise along Going-to-the-Sun Road, contemplate the waterfront views at Two Medicine Lake, admire the sheer force of St.Mary Falls, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Highline Trail.

You can drive from Great Falls to Glacier National Park in 4.5 hours. Other options are to do a combination of bus and car; or do a combination of bus and train.
