Albuquerque remains one of the state's secret jewels, as its tourist attractions are often overshadowed by the more popular holiday destination of Santa Fe.
When in Albuquerque, make a side trip to see Bandelier National Monument in Los Alamos, approximately Los Alamos away. There's much more to do: enjoy unforgettable views with a balloon tour, see the interesting displays at New Mexico Steam Locomotive and Railroad Historical Society, take in the dramatic natural features at Petroglyph National Monument, and get a new perspective on nature at Indian Pueblo Cultural Center.
