Originally built as a base for Vail Ski Resort, the town of Vail has blossomed into its own destination, but still has less than 6,000 permanent residents.
Kick off your visit on the 18th (Wed): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Beaver Creek Chapel, trot along with a tour on horseback, and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Vail Interfaith Chapel. On the next day, look for all kinds of wild species at Ptarmigan Peak Wilderness, then sample the tasty concoctions at Broken Compass Brewery & Tap House, then take an in-depth tour of Breckenridge Welcome Center, and finally don't miss a visit to Main Street.
