On your second day here, try for a hole-in-one at Sandland Adventures, then identify plant and animal life at Dean Creek Elk Viewing Area, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Heceta Beach.

Getting from Bend to Florence by car takes about 4.5 hours. Other options: take a bus. Traveling from Bend in October, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be a bit warmer in Florence, with lows of 49°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 28th (Sun) early enough to go by car to Newport.

Traveling by car from Florence to Newport takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi and bus. In October in Newport, expect temperatures between 60°F during the day and 48°F at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 30th (Tue) early enough to go by car to Astoria.

Astoria, named for famed fur trader John Jacob Astor, resides near the mouth of the Columbia River.
