For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
Kick off your visit on the 15th (Mon): step off the mainland to explore Vieques Island, then stroll through Navio Beach, and then take in the waterfront at Malecon. Keep things going the next day: deepen your appreciation for local ecosystems through Eco Tours, then tour the pleasant surroundings at Media Luna Beach, then take in the waterfront at Mosquito Pier, and finally tour the pleasant surroundings at Vieques National Wildlife Refuge.

A seaside playground in the Caribbean, Rincon was a small agricultural and fishing town until it hosted the 1968 World Surfing Championship.
Kick off your visit on the 17th (Wed): stroll through Tres Palmas Marine Reserve, tour the pleasant surroundings at Sandy Beach, tour the pleasant surroundings at Domes Beach, then visit a coastal fixture at El Faro Lighthouse, and finally enjoy the sea views from Punta Higuera Light House. With much of Culebra a nature refuge, the tropical island has been protected from overdevelopment, chain hotels, and the cruise set.
Kick off your visit on the 19th (Fri): examine the collection at Museo Historico de Culebra, then head off the coast to Culebrita Island, then tour the pleasant surroundings at Zoni Beach, and finally kick back and relax at Tamarindo Beach. On your second day here, see some colorful creatures with a scuba or snorkeling tour and then kick back and relax at Carlos Rosario Beach.

Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Playa Mar Chiquita and Stand-Up Paddleboarding. Step out of the city life by going to Playa Vega Baja and Palomino Island. Get out of town with these interesting San Juan side-trips: Fajardo (Icacos Island & Fishing Charters & Tours). And it doesn't end there: kick back and relax at Ocean Park Beach, pause for some photo ops at Paseo de los Presidentes, and walk around Parque de las Palomas.
