The glaciers from which Glacier National Park takes its name mostly dissipated eons ago, but they left behind a scoured landscape of high and steep mountain peaks, sparkling lakes, lush alpine meadows, and thick forests.
Visiting Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park and McDonald Creek will get you outdoors. Step out of Glacier National Park with an excursion to River Rafting & Tubing in West Glacier--about 46 minutes away. There's much more to do: take a memorable drive along Going-to-the-Sun Road, explore the striking landscape at Grinnell Glacier, appreciate the extensive heritage of Garden Wall, and hike along Goat Lick Overlook.
