Originally a frontier mining town, Durango is known today for its scenic setting, outdoor activities, and the 1880s steam-powered railway that takes visitors through sections of the mountains where roads don't reach.
Appreciate the collections at Durango Fish Hatchery and Wildlife Museum and Earthen Vessel Gallery. Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Four Leaves Winery and St. Columba Catholic Church. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Durango: San Juan River Walk (in Pagosa Springs) and Silverton (Molas Pass, Ice Lakes Trail, & more). The adventure continues: explore the landscape on two wheels at The Colorado Trail, hike along Rim Trail/ Campus Loop, and stroll around Rotary Park.

The town of Telluride is the county seat and most populous town of San Miguel County in the southwestern portion of the U.S. On the 18th (Fri), hike along Baby Bath Tubs Trail, steep yourself in history at Yankee Girl Mine, then do some two-wheel cruising with Ophir Pass Trail, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Alpine Chapel, and finally ponder the world of politics at San Miguel County Courthouse. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: look for all kinds of wild species at Valley Floor, admire the sheer force of Cornet Creek Falls, then get outside with Via Ferrata, and finally tour the pleasant surroundings at Blue Lakes Trail.
