Dallas to San Antonio is an approximately 3.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. In July, daily temperatures in San Antonio can reach 98°F, while at night they dip to 75°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 19th (Fri) early enough to drive to Houston.

Although urban sprawl remains synonymous with Houston, most of the city's tourist attractions lie within the relatively small downtown area, surrounded by diverse neighborhoods housing the nation's biggest African-American, Asian-American, and Latino communities.

Get some historical perspective at Washington-on-the-Brazos and Lakewood Church. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Texas Prison Museum and Texas Star Winery. Change things up with these side-trips from Houston: Bernhardt Winery (in Plantersville) and Sam Houston Statue (in Huntsville). Getting from San Antonio to Houston by car takes about 3.5 hours. Other options: take a bus; or fly. In July in Houston, expect temperatures between 95°F during the day and 77°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 22nd (Mon) so you can drive to Austin.

Despite its laid-back college vibe, Austin is an influential center for politics, technology, film, and music.

Start off your visit on the 23rd (Tue): explore the world behind art at The Blanton Museum of Art, then get engrossed in the history at Bullock Texas State History Museum, and then get a sense of history and politics at Texas State Capitol. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: steep yourself in history at The Driskill, examine the collection at Dick's Classic Garage, and then do a tasting at Duchman Family Winery.

You can drive from Houston to Austin in 3 hours. Other options are to take a bus; or fly. Expect a daytime high around 98°F in July, and nighttime lows around 75°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 24th (Wed) early enough to go by car to Waco.

Sightseeing in Waco offers many possibilities in a medium-sized town on the Brazos River in central Texas.
