Step out of the city life by going to Mount Rushmore National Memorial and Needles Eye Tunnel. Discover out-of-the-way places like Black Elk Peak and Peter Norbeck Scenic Byway. Explore Keystone's surroundings by going to Custer (Sunday Gulch Trail & Legion Lake). Although Badlands National Park's name might not be the most inviting, its landscape of pinnacles, eroded buttes, spires, and an expansive, pristine mixed-grass prairie remain enticing.
Visiting Loop Road and Notch Trail will get you outdoors. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Roberts Prairie Dog Town and Saddle Pass Trail. Next up on the itinerary: tour the pleasant surroundings at Cliff Shelf Nature Trailhead, explore the striking landscape of Burns Basin Overlook, hike along Door Trail, and take in the dramatic natural features at Conata Basin Overlook.

You can drive from Keystone to Badlands National Park in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi and bus. Cheyenne is the capital and most populous city of the US state of Wyoming and the county seat of Laramie County. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Medicine Bow National Forest and Devil's Backbone Trail. Get in touch with nature at Vedauwoo and Happy Jack Road. Venture out of the city with trips to Annual Flower Trial Garden (in Fort Collins), Ivinson Mansion (in Laramie) and Loveland (Devil's Backbone Open Space & Colorado Cherry Company).
