Munising is a city on the southern shore of Lake Superior on the Upper Peninsula of the U.S. You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Chapel Rock and Beach and 12-Mile Beach. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Tannery Falls and Sand Point Beach. Spend the 8th (Mon) exploring nature at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. There's still lots to do: head off the coast to Grand Island, explore the fascinating underground world of Eben Ice Caves and Canyon Falls & Gorge, and admire the sheer force of Spray Falls.

Raleigh to Munising is an approximately 7-hour combination of flight and taxi. You can also do a combination of flight and car; or drive. In July, Munising is little chillier than Raleigh - with highs of 74°F and lows of 56°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 10th (Wed) so you can travel to Mackinac Island.

Manistique, formerly Monistique, is the only incorporated city in and the county seat of Schoolcraft County of the U.S. On the 14th (Sun), take in the dramatic natural features at Palms Book State Park, then explore the activities along Kitch-Iti-Kipi (The Big Spring), and then learn about winemaking at Mackinaw Trail Winery.
