Williamsburg

— 10 nights

Colonial Capital

Founded in 1632 as a fortified settlement on the high ground between two rivers, Williamsburg served as a colonial capital of Virginia for over 80 years.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown Settlement. Get some cultural insight at Historic Jamestowne and Bruton Parish Episcopal Church. Explore Williamsburg's surroundings by going to Blandford Church and Cemetery (in Petersburg), Suffolk Seaboard Station Railroad Museum (in Suffolk) and Newport News (The Noland Trail & Virginia War Museum). Spend the 10th (Mon) exploring nature at Eastern Shore of Virginia National Wildlife Refuge. And it doesn't end there: view the masterpieces at Williamsburg Art Gallery, steep yourself in history at George Wythe House, browse the exhibits of The Rising Sun Tavern, and learn about winemaking at Silver Hand Meadery.

To see photos, where to stay, and other tourist information, go to the Williamsburg trip planning site.

Expect a daytime high around 87°F in June, and nighttime lows around 68°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 15th (Sat) to allow enough time to travel back home.
