Gateway to the Black Hills

South Dakota's second-largest city, Rapid City has for many years served as a gateway to the West.

Fewer than 400 people call Keystone home year-round, but the population explodes in summer when crowds flock to nearby Mount Rushmore.
Step out of the city life by going to Mount Rushmore National Memorial and Horse Thief Lake. Appreciate the collections at The Museum @ Black Hills Institute and National Presidential Wax Museum. And it doesn't end there: stroll through Little Devil's Tower Trail, stop by Professor Samuel's Portrait Emporium, trek along Presidential Trail, and discover the riches below the earth's surface at Big Thunder Gold Mine.
