Located just 140 km (90 mi) from Cuba, Key West is an island only about 6.4 km (4 mi) long and 1.6 km (1 mi) wide.
Start off your visit on the 12th (Sun): look for all kinds of wild species at Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory, then explore the galleries of Truman Little White House, then immerse yourself in nature at Fort Zachary Taylor, and finally don't miss a visit to Duval Street.

Kick off your visit on the 14th (Tue): take a stroll through Savannah Historic District, then take in the spiritual surroundings of The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, then explore the different monuments and memorials at Bonaventure Cemetery, and finally appreciate the extensive heritage of Fort Pulaski National Monument.

Pigeon Forge

A tiny town with big tourist appeal, Pigeon Forge bills itself as the "Center of Fun in the Smokies." Just a short drive from the national park protecting the diverse plant and animal life of the Great Smoky Mountains, the town features numerous places to visit, such as bars, restaurants, cafes, theaters, and shops.
Start off your visit on the 16th (Thu): let the river carry you with a rafting and tubing tour, then see the interesting displays at Titanic Museum, and then find something for the whole family at Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster. On the next day, steep yourself in history at The Old Mill, then whizz through the canopy at some of the top local zipline courses and adventure parks, then sample the fine beverages at Sugarlands Distilling Company, and finally meet the residents at Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies.

Do a combination of taxi and flight from Savannah to Pigeon Forge in 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and taxi. Traveling from Savannah in August, plan for little chillier nights in Pigeon Forge, with lows around 23°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 18th (Sat) so you can travel to Custer.
