Home of airplane pioneers the Wright brothers, Dayton prides itself on its inventors, including Charles F. Kettering, inventor of the automobile self starter.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Dayton Dragons Baseball and The Wright Cycle Company Complex. Change things up with these side-trips from Dayton: Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve (in Yellow Springs), Frank Lloyd Wright's Westcott House (in Springfield) and Balloon Rides (in Lebanon). Spend the 8th (Wed) exploring nature at Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park.
