Theme Park Capital of the World

For most people, any mention of Orlando immediately conjures up images of sprawling theme parks filled with characters plucked right out of popular animated movies.
Bring the kids along to Universal Orlando Resort and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Located just 140 km (90 mi) from Cuba, Key West is an island only about 6.4 km (4 mi) long and 1.6 km (1 mi) wide.
On the 30th (Mon), see some colorful creatures with a scuba or snorkeling tour, admire all the interesting features of Fort Zachary Taylor, fly like a bird with a parasailing or paragliding tour, then look for all kinds of wild species at Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory, and finally explore the different monuments and memorials at Key West Cemetery.

Fly from Orlando to Key West in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Orlando in December, Key West is a bit warmer at night with lows of 25°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 30th (Mon) to allow enough time to drive to Marathon.

Marathon

Heart of the Florida Keys

A tiny city just 16 km (10 mi) long, Marathon is spread across several islands in the middle of the Florida Keys.
Start off your visit on the 31st (Tue): look for all kinds of wild species at National Key Deer Refuge, enjoy the sand and surf at Bahia Honda State Park, then examine the collection at Crane Point Museum & Nature Center, and finally stroll through Sombrero Beach. On the 1st (Wed), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: stroll through Anne's Beach, then cast your line with a fishing tour, and then admire the majestic nature at Lignumvitae Key Botanical State Park.

Drive from Key West to Marathon in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. In December in Marathon, expect temperatures between 31°C during the day and 25°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 1st (Wed) so you can go by car to Key Largo.

Diving Capital of the World

The northernmost island of the Florida Keys, Key Largo provides stunning scenery, a number of watersports opportunities, and plenty of areas to relax on vacation.
Start off your visit on the 2nd (Thu): explore the gorgeous colors at Spiegel Grove, then look for all kinds of wild species at Florida Keys Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center, then take a tour by water with Boat Tours & Water Sports, and finally get interesting insight from Tours.

Traveling by car from Marathon to Key Largo takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Traveling from Marathon in January, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be little chillier in Key Largo, with lows of 19°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 2nd (Thu) early enough to go by car to Miami.

Miami

Magic City

Florida’s mecca of fun in the sun, the lively tropical metropolis of Miami is one of the world’s top vacation spots.
Relax by the water at South Beach and Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park. Step out of the city life by going to Shark Valley Visitor Center and Fort Lauderdale Beach. Get out of town with these interesting Miami side-trips: Boxroom Escape Games (in Hollywood) and Everglades National Park (Osceola panthers, Pineland Trail, &more).

Getting from Key Largo to Miami by car takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 29°C in January, and nighttime lows around 20°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 5th (Sun) so you can travel back home.
