Known internationally as the "Horse Capital of the World," Lexington boasts a thriving economy resting largely on its thoroughbred racehorse industry.
Museum-lovers will get to explore Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea and The Great American Dollhouse Museum. Visiting Old Friends at Dream Chase Farm and Berea Pinnacles will get you outdoors. Get out of town with these interesting Lexington side-trips: Berea Arts Council (in Berea), Old Fort Harrod State Park (in Harrodsburg) and Perryville Battlefield State Historic Site (in Perryville). There's still lots to do: take in nature's colorful creations at Ashland: The Henry Clay Estate, explore and take pictures at Rupp Arena, get to know the fascinating history of Waveland State Historic Site, and explore the different monuments and memorials at Lexington Cemetery.

Los Angeles to Lexington is an approximately 8-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and bus; or drive. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 3 hours traveling from Los Angeles to Lexington. Traveling from Los Angeles in September, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be a bit cooler in Lexington, with lows of 59°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 5th (Thu) so you can drive to Louisville.

Originally intended as a resort city to serve the Mammoth Cave attraction, Cave City has taken on a life of its own.
Explore hidden gems such as Hidden River Cave and American Cave Museum and Cub Run Cave. Get outdoors at Diamond Caverns and Onyx Cave. Get out of town with these interesting Cave City side-trips: Bowling Green (Chaney's Dairy Barn, Aviation Heritage Park, & more) and Detweiler's Country Store (in Cub Run). There's more to do: examine the collection at Dinosaur World and hike along Fat Man's Misery.
