Hana is one of the most isolated communities in Hawaii, with a permanent population of just over 1,000 people.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Pipiwai Trail and Pools at Ohe'o. Visiting Haleakala Crater and Honokalani Black Sand Beach will get you outdoors. There's lots more to do: delve into the lush surroundings at Bamboo Forest, enjoy the sand and surf at Red Sand Beach - Kaihalulu Beach, admire all the interesting features of Haleakala Highway (Crater Road), and take in the dramatic scenery at Hanawi Falls.

Get some historical perspective at Maria Lanakila Catholic Church and Sacred Hearts Mission Church. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Ho'okipa Beach Park and Nakalele Blowhole. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Lahaina: Kihei (Kamaole Beach Park III, Kamaole Beach Park I, &more) and Wailea (Little Beach, Makena Beach, &more). Drive from Hana to Lahaina in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of car and bus; or fly. Traveling from Hana in May, you will find days in Lahaina are a bit cooler (81°F), and nights are about the same (70°F). Cap off your sightseeing on the 7th (Mon) early enough to travel back home.
